KNIGHTS' ENTERTAINMENTS
Knights' entertainments were just as harsh and brave as the rest of
their lives. For instance, spectacles and tournaments took place in
which many knights died playing war games.
Tournaments usually lasted three days and were held near the king's castle.
On the first day, they fought on horseback. The knights had long lances,
which were almost as long as telephone poles and usually made of wood.

On the second day, they fought without horses. The weapons they used
this time were swords and battle-axes.

On the third day, the knights fought each other in two groups, as in a
real battle.

Of course knights valued true love very highly. Many such
stories have survived until the present day.
