THE FIRST FACTORIES
Time passed. Clothing, tools and construction materials were all needed
in ever greater amounts, and as cheaply as possible, of course.
Workshops and forges grew larger and larger. Work began to be done
faster and faster.
.
In this way the first factories were
born.
Inventors invented more amd more new things. They started to use wind
and water power - windmills and watermills were built. People also
learned to fly hot-air balloons.
People learned to use vehicles powered by steam. The first such vehicle
looked very funny. It had three wheels and a steam boiler in front. When
it moved it looked like a large steaming cauldron - as if soup were
being transported. But the inventors work continued and soon trains
travelled faster than any horse-driven carriage ever could.
List which factories' products were required to construct the first steam engine.
